Every journey starts with a reason—and for Scott, it began with a barbell. What started as a passion for self-improvement evolved into a mission to help others surpass their limits. Team SMG was built on dedication, discipline, and a deep belief that real strength comes from consistency - inside and outside the gym.

The Beginning

Scott has had a passion for weightlifting and fitness for over 10 years and has been an active member of Training Grounds for five years. His journey began in his mother’s garage at just 13 years old. What started as conditioning for football quickly became a lifelong passion.

Finding His Path

After graduating from Sehome High School in 2016, Scott moved to Tucson, AZ to play college football. But after one season, he realized his heart wasn’t in the game anymore. Returning home to Bellingham, he began competing in bodybuilding—entering his first show in 2018 and two more since.

A New Chapter

During this time, Scott also earned his degree in Fire Protection Technology and EMT certification. After two years of volunteer and part-time firefighting, he followed his heart and launched SMG Training & Nutrition in 2021.

Team SMG

Since starting SMG, Scott has seen his clients and competitors become more than individuals—they’ve become part of Team SMG. Combining his love for football and fitness, he also developed a Strength & Conditioning program for Sehome Football.
